Clinique is well known cosmetic company, in particular for its skincare line that is touted as tested both by dermatologists and for allergies. This is reflected by the salespeople in white lab coats by the counter. I used Clinique for a while, timing my purchases with their travel-sized giveaways from which I accumulated many tubes of the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I used it for a while when my normal lotion ran out as well as for trips.
From the website description, the dramatically different moisturizing lotion is suitable for those with very dry to dry combination skin, to moisturize dry cheeks while being comfortable for the T-zone, working to soften, smooth and improve. Further, the product has won awards including:
- 2007 Allure’s Reader’s Choice Award
- 2009 Glamour Reader’s Choice Award
- 2009 Teen Vogue Reader’s Choice Award
Given that it is a lotion and not a cream, it’s on the lighter watery side but it is surprisingly moisturizing . It is non sticky and absorbs relatively quickly. In comparison to Biotherm’s Aquasource and Shiseido’s White Lucent, I would say it’s on the in between of the moisturizing scale.
While it is labelled as fragrance free, there is a slight scent upon application that fades away relatively quickly. Although it promises moisture for those with dry/combination skin, for me it wasn’t moisturizing enough (but I do admit it is moisturizing overall). Blame it on North American winters, but I would still get dry spots on my face. Further, I didn’t see any dramatic differences.
At $13 for 1.7 oz and $24.50 for 4.2 oz, it is definitely not expensive. I actually have a friend that has very nice skin, who has been using Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion for years and keeps going back. For myself, I wouldn’t go out to seek this lotion, but to get it free with purchase (which happens often), try it out. It may work for you, as it did for my friend (she has normal type skin)!
